Equipment & Gear
There's a lot of equipment and gear that comes with being a karate student, every new student purchases a uniform (gi) at registration (a Parker's Karate tshirt may also be available for use during the warmer months). Parker's Karate provides weapons and sparring gear that may be borrowed until the student is ready to acquire their own, at which time talk to Sensei and he will help you with purchasing gear.
Gi and BeltParker's Karate students wear a traditional, white gi and belt. After reaching Brown Belt Level, Students may purchase & wear a black gi.

Sparring Equipment
After a student has been participating for a month or so they may purchase equipment (talk to Sensei about ordering gear). There are three basic pieces of equipment. The Headgear/Helmet protects the head, Gloves the hands during punching/blocking and Boots protect the feet during kicks. There are other pieces such as rib guards, shin/elbow/knee pads and even different styles/types of equipment that you can purchase at different skill levels or based on preference. Sparring equipment is important both to protect oneself while sparring as well as their opponent. We do not teach aggressive sparring, Shotokan Karate is for self-defense. See the three basic pieces of sparring equipment below.

Important Note about Weapons:
When bringing your nunchakus to class be sure to carry them in a bag/tote. Never swing your weapons at/around people. They are not toys.
